BIG WEEKEND 2018

Welcome to the Big Weekend 2018 event page!

Since 2009 Chertsey Street Baptist has been holding an annual weekend away to Otford Manor in Kent for students and young professionals. Once again we'll be returning, and this year we have opened the booking more widely to include those from other Grace Baptist Churches around England. We've had a fantastic time in the past and hope that others will come to join us in 2018.

The theme of the weekends teaching is "Connected". Our speaker Tim Laurence, Head of Strategic Research for UCCF, will be taking us through Colossians 1-3 over three sessions. It can be very easy to fall into making a divide between the sacred and secular in our lives. Tim will be helping us enjoy Christ in every part of our lives rather than this split. There will also be practical seminars to choose from.

Even with a jam-packed teaching programme, there will be the opportunity to share in times of fellowship - whether that be in the local village tea shop, a walk across the Kent countryside, or playing a game of table tennis!

Please complete the form below to sign up. Following the submission of the form an email will be sent to you with payment directions. This is not an automated service so please be patient.

The weekend will run from 7pm on Friday 2nd February until 3pm on Sunday 4th February.

Should you have any problems please contact Lois Newcombe on 01483 300238 or ln@csbc.org.uk.

YPF: Film Night (location tbc)

YPF is a friendly group for young people between the ages of 14 and 18 (school years 10-13).

We usually meet on Saturday nights at the church from 7:30pm to 10pm during normal school term times. Every third week we have a relaxed Friday evening drop in at the home of one of the leaders. We also go away as a group for the occasional weekend, and last year we spent a week together in Wales during the summer holidays. It was brilliant! Most weeks we run fun activities which can include, silly games and cooking and eating food. We also have talks, discussions and studies to try to understand the good news of the Bible and to see what that means for our everyday lives.

Most Sunday nights after the evening service, there is an opportunity for the YPF to get together informally at someone's house.

Friends International Student Event

uni-of-surrey-1024x349.jpg

At Chertsey Street we run events for international students. We want to provide a very warm welcome and help you settle into life in Guildford and in the UK.

To help with this we partner with Friends International and the Globe Cafe at the University of Surrey to help run events that help you: find friends - international and local British people; find out about British culture (like Pancake Day, Christmas and Easter); enjoy visiting other parts of Britain (like the Isle of Wight, the surrey hills and other towns in the UK); improve your English with local people (like our Quest group); enjoy a meal with a local family and learn about the Christian faith.

These activities are open to all international students whether you identify with a particular religious background, or not. Our services are for all people, so whether you are a Christian looking for a church family, or someone who wants to just look and see, you can find your place with us at Chertsey Street.

We hope you will come back again and again, and we will have the chance to be an important part of your time in the UK.
